At last RIM has woken up to the good ol' saying "keep up or get left out eating the dust". They have announced a phone that is truely gonna give the iPhone a run for its money and based on the specs (read my previous post 3G-Blackberry-and-iPhone-comparison) it might even beat the iPhone on its own turf. The fun part being they have infact taken the race down to the line , releasing on the Blackberry Bold 4 days apart from the iPhone 2.0, and just like the iPhone exclusively on AT&T..
After going through the specifications in detail (read my previous post 3G-Blackberry-and-iPhone-comparison) and doing a comparison, I would feel the Bold would win hands down. But there are a few factors to consider here.
1. A lot of the corporates use a BES so there for the Bold is going to be a natural winner by force rather than choice
2. If you want push mail to the iPhone you need to subscribe to MobileMe package which has a startup fee of US$99.00 for a single user with 5gb online storage and a family pack for US$149.00 with 40gb online storage. (am yet to find how much the annual renewal would be!)
3. So far there has been no official announcement either from IBM or Microsoft about iPhone support either for Exchange or Domino where as the Blackberry is well known to work with both.
As I come across more I will blog later.
