I have just finished a BES 4.1.6 for a MS Exchange 2003 server. The installation went smooth and email flows just fine.

Now here comes the problem. It is with calendar entries and more specifically meeting invitations.

Regular reminders created ether on the desktop or on the handheld get synchronized correctly both ways.

Now coming to meeting invites. When the user gets a meeting invite, it appears in the users inbox of MS Outlook client and he can accept or reject it as normal but on the blackberry it does not show up in the inbox at all. It shows up as a appointment directly in the users calendar.

Now if you accept the meeting invite from the desktop it goes into the desktop calendar as a meeting but shows up on the Blackberry calendar as a reminder (not a meeting).

I have checked the logs and also gone a step further and  used the MS tool that takes you down to each folder , each document and each field in the documents (something like the easy right click doc properties option in Lotus Domino, only that here you need a tool to do it) and found that for the mail document in the inbox which was pushed to the Blackberry handheld you can see the parameters that are modified by the BES . But if you look at the calendar invite it does not show these fields. This goes to show that for some reason the BES is not seeing the calendar invite at all and so is not processing the document at all.

RIM is working on this case too. Before you ask yes I have done all the cdo.dll and mapi32.dll tricks out there and none of it works. I have also checked all access rights on the mailbox and still no luck.

I did have a conference all with another fellow Lotus Domino blogger Vaughan Rivett  who did a very interesting post comparing logging on MS Exchange and Lotus Domino which can be read here

Will blog/post further detail as and when I get further on this case.

Hi

The problem was that all the DST patches were not applied to this MS EX server. Once they were applied it all started to work fine. If I am not wrong there were 2 or 3 dst patches released by MS for MS Ex 2003. Make sure they are ALL applied on all servers/

Thanks for posting about this. Ran into the issue today and this is one of the few places I found anything. I will definitely keep checking here to see if any further info pops up.

Have you been able to get any further on this? I had someone from Microsoft read the posting on my blog who said that they might be able to help. I will contact him to let him know that help is required if you have been unable to solve this.
